Jacket is Off White on Top of White Wedding Dress

Wedding attire - is white acceptable if it only makes up part of your outfit?

Is it acceptable to wear a white blouse as a wedding guest if I paired it with a knee-length turquoise-blue skirt? My blouse is cotton eyelet, and I'd wear a turquoise-blue beaded necklace. The bride's dress is floor-length and layers of tulle, so the fabrics aren't too similar. I haven't attended many weddings, so I'm not sure what's acceptable. Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to add that her dress is a very pale blue (different shade than my skirt), not white!

I think that's fine, you can always just ask the bride!

I say no white at all! Unless you know the bride doesn't care - but even then, you don't want to be the only one at the wedding wearing white along with the bride.

I say always play it safe and don't wear anything solid white!

A baby pink or beige color would look really cute with a blue maxi skirt too, if you're torn with top options!

I was going to say some white is fine, but the blouse is all white? I wouldn't do that. But, it's just personal.

I went to an extremely casual wedding (2nd wedding for both parties) the bride wore a cute white knee length dress. I was going to wear a black dress but she I put it on it didn't fit. Scrambling I grabbed a white/ivory sweater and skirt and left since I was then late. I didn't realize i was wearing white to a wedding g until after I got there and felt so self conscious. The bride didn't care, but I will never do it again.

It's a safer option to just avoid white entirely.

I say no to any white. I see people all the time who think wearing white is ok because it isn't completely white or has flowers in different colors on it. My opinion no amount of white is acceptable to wear at a wedding. But of course you can always run it by the bride herself and see because everyone has their own opinion on this.

Considering that her dress is also a shade of blue, I would consider wearing a different outfit all together. It's just personal preference for me, but I don't like wearing similar colors as the bridal party, bride, or any accent colors the wedding might have.

For me, I completely avoid wearing white to a wedding as a guest. I have seen others wear white stripes or a black and white patterned dress to a wedding, and it was totally OK, but I personally would rather just avoid it altogether. If I have to question it, I'd rather just switch to something I know is OK to wear, rather than chance it and find out later that it wasn't OK.

I agree with the posts above, I would avoid white altogether. I even stay away from white dresses with a print on them.

That is acceptable to have a white top paired with a colored skirt and vice versa. Some people do not find it ok but many brides don't care what guests wear.

Yea I think if you're wearing a white blouse it's ok as long as it's not entirely white gown

I would avoid white and blue altogether if you already know what she's wearing. Or, you can show her the outfit and ask her! She won't get mad for you running an outfit by her ahead of time!

It is fine. There has never been a prohibition on wearing any white. Just nothing white, and bridal in overall looks , either fabric or style. It is only in the most formal weddings that guests wear no white. Because all are in ball gowns, so anything white would look bridal.

I would run that by the bride. She may have a no white dress code.

Absolutely no one is going to confuse you for the bride because you're wearing a white shirt. People are so sensitive about this for no reason.

As a guest I completely try to avoid white as much as possible. As a bride I couldn't care less if someone wore white. As long as it's not like a full white dress, a white blouse would not phase me. I don't see anything wrong with the outfit you're going to wear. But again that's just me. Some brides are crazy

I personally think it's fine. I have a white and black color-block dress that I wear to weddings often. It's white on the top with a thin black line down the middle, and black on the bottom. Looks similar to a white blouse with a black skirt

When you're sitting down, you'll look like you're wearing all white. I'd be very self conscious about that.

I think white patterned is ok, but I wouldn't do solid white

    I agree with this.
I'm one of those brides who if a guest ask me if I was ok with them wearing something white id tell them no absolutely not. Regardless of guests not mistake another person wearing white as the bride, it's my wedding and I'll only be a bride once so let me shine on my day.

I see it as it's the only event wear you shouldn't be wearing white. You can put the white outfit away for one day and save it for another occasion.
